KIA SPORTAGE DETAIL

Thanks to Paul who found us on www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk and called to arrange for us to go down and detail his fathers Kia Sportage. It was only a month old when the customer purchased it from a main dealership. Not being happy with the way it came from the main dealer, the customer decided to send it back to them to rectify. Upon recieving the vehicle back from the dealership, he noticed the finish was still not up to scratch so they decided to call Pride & Performance to do the job properly.

After a long tiring drive to Essex we arrived at around 11pm, so after some much needed rest, we set off to Paul's in the morning.

After a quick chat with Paul's father he pointed out the defects on Sportage, here is the car before we started the detail:

The defects aren't too noticable on the camera, due to sunlight etc, but there was a great deal of swirls and holograms all over it - a sign that the dealership hadn't given any thought and consideration into the correct process of valeting a car.

We started by pre washing the door jams and under arches with Auto Glym Power Max 2, then the car was snow foamed using Valet Pro Ph Neutral Snow Foam:

WheelsWhilst the car was left to soak for around 10 minutes to let the foam grab the dirt and carry it away, we made a start on the wheels.

These were cleaned using Valet Pro Bilbery and a selection of brushes. Valet Pro Bilberry is a very safe wheel cleaner, and is safe to use on all wheel types and is highly dilutable, allowing us to choose the strength of the solution depending on how dirty the wheels are.

Once the car was rinsed off it was washed using a 2BM and Dodo Juice Sour Power. It was then dried using a Dodo Juice Supernatural Drying Cloth. This meant that now we could see the defects much clearer:

It was still very difficult to pick them up on camera though, so after looking into what we were dealing with the car was clayed using Dodo Juice Supernatural Clay and Dodo Born Slippy Clay Lube. This didn't take as much contaminates off as you would have expected on a month old car.

Once this was completed the car was washed down again then dried one final time. We then taped a test section out on the bonnet and had a play with some pad and polish combo's.

The customer decided on a Menzerna Polishing Pad and Menzerna Intensive Polish followed by Lime Prime on a Yellow 3M Polishing Pad with a Menzerna Cutting Pad and Menzerna Power Gloss used on some of the deeper scratches.

Once all the polishing was finished the car was waxed using Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Hard Wax. The wheels were protected with Collignite 476's and all the plastics were dressed and protected using Chemical Guys Liquid Oil Extreme Shine dressing.

Upon the customers request, we were asked not to dress the tyres.

The engine was cleaned using Auto Glym Power Max 2 and then dressed and protected with Chemical Guys Bare Bones.

The interior was vacuumed out then the leather was cleaned and conditioned using Gliptone Cleaner and Conditioner.
